512 Chatbots: An Ideal Microlearning Delivery Platform
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM ET
Tuesday, November 8
Microlearning has been one of the premier buzzwords in the past few years within the learning and development community. And rightly so! Delivering bite-sized experiences that fall in line with the pace that humans can and want to learn makes a lot of sense. But how do you consistently engage learners with microlearning content? It can be hard enough to get learners to login to an LMS for a single course—let alone asking them to do so several times a week. And relying on email as a consistent messaging channel has long been unreliable.
Chatbots that are installed into existing collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams and Slack are a compelling way to deliver on the promise of microlearning. Chatbots make things easy for learners, as they don’t need to log in to a separate app or learning platform—they can engage in a short lesson right where they are.
When designing chatbots for microlearning, it’s helpful to imagine being able to clone your best trainers and think about what types of messages, activities, questions, reminders, and nudges they would send to each individual learner—should they have the time. Chatbots can be easily programmed to proactively reach out to learners on a regular schedule or based on other logical triggers that you can define.
And when it comes to truly engaging the learner, chatbots can be programmed to have a fun and friendly ‘personality’ that softens the interruption of whatever learning activity you create for the learner.
In this session, you will learn:
- The best practices behind designing microlearning via a chatbot
- How to install a chatbot into Teams, Slack, or another collaboration platform
- How to convert existing content into chatbot friendly, bite-size chunks
- Key principles to use in writing the ideal nudge
