803 Manufacturing Academy: Integrate Learning with the Business
3:15 PM - 4:15 PM ET
Tuesday, November 8
Tracks: Leadership
Rapid growth as well as new factories required faster time to assimilation for manufacturing at a large semiconductor company. With just on-the-job training and a one-week onboarding class, techs were taking 12 weeks to become independent in a complex environment. Additionally, they were running 24/7 in global plants with high standards of safety and quality. The business needed a new strategy for learning. Academies are a key component in effective technical learning. Get an inside look at how a special agile team, sponsored by the business, created a new manufacturing academy that addresses rapid ramp-up times, builds skills, and integrates quality and safety into every skill.
In this session, you will see how a manufacturing academy is created, with all the strategies, business decisions, designs, and development solutions that can result in faster and better assimilation. You will see how to build an agile team, address modern learning tools and designs, and implement a business-focused result. We will show the strategy, the design and development, and the implementation of a comprehensive academy. We will talk to the business needs and the diversity of solutions we used to build the team of current employees, contractors, and consultants and how they all interacted in agile development while supporting additional business challenges like supply chain issues. We’ll talk about how we partnered with corporate L&D, HR, business operations, and engineering to provide the right content at the right time. Our team approach used SMEs, leaders, and focused learning professionals to cut time to assimilation by as much as half. We used a “learn, see, do” approach to blend many modalities in a modern learning curriculum for our complex audience and achieve solid business results.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to build a business focused academy
- Why you need an agile team to design and develop a solution
- To utilize modern learning to address manufacturing assimilation
- To design and develop modern learning blends effectively
