802 Learning After Layoffs

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET
Wednesday, December 6

Every day we hear about companies trying to survive the economic environment, one layoff at a time. As organizations recover and rebuild, the L&D function is more critical than ever. L&D can help companies effectively address the post-layoff challenges such as retaining and reskilling remaining employees, enhancing productivity and engagement, and rebuilding organizational culture.

The L&D function can play a vital role in navigating the aftermath of a layoff. When companies lose employees, emotions run high and leaders tend to focus on business results first. We believe that the L&D and HR functions have the opportunity to help right-side companies by bringing their people back to the forefront.

This session aims to create a safe space where L&D professionals can share their insights and experiences and leave with ideas for how to support their employees. We’ll use scenarios about real-world problems in post-RIF companies to dig into topics like the role of L&D, strategies for retaining key talent, and best practices in rebuilding a strong culture. Our goal is to inspire new ideas and give participants strategies to take back to their teams and rebuild a resilient and agile workforce.

In this session you will learn:

  • How the L&D function can help organizations navigate the post-layoff period and support employees through the transition
  • Strategies for retaining key talent and retraining employees to fill skill gaps, and how to measure the effectiveness of these initiatives
  • Best practices for rebuilding a solid organizational culture after a significant workforce reduction, including creating a shared purpose and values, and fostering a positive employee experience
